Cockwells 13m Limousine Tender
December 18, 2023 Cockwells’ 13m Limousine Tender Selected as a Finalist for International Design and Innovation Award

Acclaimed Mylor-based boatbuilder, Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding, has been selected as a finalist for a coveted international industry award for its 13m Limousine Tender.

This craft is one of seven exemplary designs to have been shortlisted in the Tender of the Year category of the 2024 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards, which honour the world-class naval architecture, styling and technology of the superyachts and tenders that have been delivered to clients within the past year.

Designed and built as part of the quartet of custom tenders to the 112m, seven-deck megayacht, Renaissance, Cockwells’ 13m Limousine Tender offers the ultimate in style, ingenuity and seakeeping.

With styling to match the mothership and the interior of the client’s private jet, the luxurious cabin features three reclining seats aft, upholstered in fine Italian leather, as well as a bench seat and dinette area. Full height standing headroom, air-conditioning, a drinks fridge, heating, a forward luggage room and sophisticated lighting complete the onboard amenities. Utilising the same tried and tested semi-displacement hull of Cockwells’ semi-custom Duchy 35, twin Yanmar 8LV engines and a Seakeeper stabiliser, the tender offers exhilarating speed and an exceptionally smooth ride simultaneously.

Guests who prefer to enjoy the open air of the aft deck can do so from a choice of seven seats, including two aft-facing recliners, which are custom-built for safety when the craft is reaching top speeds. A swim platform with a wide carbon-fibre bathing ladder enables seamless access to the ocean.

“This vessel complements Renaissance in every detail and transfers guests to and from Spain’s largest superyacht in opulent comfort,” explains Founder & Executive Chairman, Dave Cockwell. “However, this is not only an exquisite tender with superb seakeeping but demonstrates Cockwells’ capacity for cutting-edge technological innovation too.”

A smart-thinking control system that was coded in-house is operated from a touchscreen at the helm. The core programme allows the user to control the automated seats, air- conditioning, heating, lighting, gyro stabiliser and every other system on the tender. It also monitors all power requirements and automatically activates a generator to either deliver 240V or charge the tender’s batteries, as required. LED lighting is discretely hidden within the superstructure to illuminate the cabin sides and stylish underwater lighting completes the show.

“To have achieved this prestigious nomination as we celebrate yet another year of record sales and growth is testament to our talented team of designers and craftspeople who create highly-customised vessels to meet the precise requirements of our discerning clientele,” adds Dave Cockwell. “With ever-increasing demand for our bespoke superyacht tenders, which combine traditional boatbuilding techniques with contemporary flair and innovative engineering, we are proud to be recognised as one of the best tender builders in the industry.”

The winners of the 2024 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards will be announced during the Superyacht Design Festival, which takes place in Kitzbühel in Austria in January.
