Cockwells - TT Scout
September 25, 2015 Cockwells launches a new 8m convertible limousine tender design

Cockwells’ latest tender design shows once more that the company understands the delicate balance between limited on-board storage space and the need for versatility and comfort. Their aim was to create a single, multi-functional tender which can easily adapt to the multitude of tasks required of today’s superyacht tenders.

A few select clients and industry partners were invited for a sneak peek when the tender was pre-launched at the Monaco Yacht Show. The aim of this preview was to understand all the current needs from the industry who loved the concept and added a few ideas of their own. After a few tweaks, the design of this unique 8m convertible limousine tender was ready.

The most novel feature of this new design is its unique sliding roof which provides three different operational modes enabling the tender to easily adapt to a vast range of weather conditions and sea states. The sliding, glazed roof can easily slip into “sunroof mode” which allows passengers to take in the view and enjoy the fresh air in a sheltered dry cabin; the “convertible mode” gives a full, open and outdoors experience and the “closed cabin mode” is for a comfortable, fully enclosed, air-conditioned or heated environment.

For easy boarding, all options have been covered – forward by the through hull boarding gate and aft via the spacious aft deck which slides out for easy access.

For the crew, simple loading of goods and luggage is essential; the sliding bathing platform enables them to load the aft deck with goods or luggage which can be tied down and covered with the sliding roof if necessary. On a fun day out guests can use it as a sunbathing platform making this tender much more than just transit from port to yacht.

All features have been cleverly designed with both guests and crew in mind. It can accommodate up to eight guests seated comfortably in the saloon and has additional space for two crew members.
