August 13, 2015 Cockwells launches The Duchy 21 design

Renowned for building ‘proper boats’, Cockwells are launching another superb example of a traditional boat with a modern twist at the 2015 Southampton Boat Show.

Very carefully selected lines from a traditional Cornish harbour launch combined with innovative design ideas have produced a perfectly proportioned stylish day boat with excellent volume for carrying 12 passengers. Built in low maintenance traditional GRP, the Duchy 21 is an easily driven and very capable sea boat. She is also a quick boat for her size and produces very little wake, which is ideal for inland waters. This versatility means the Duchy 21 is a perfect all-rounder which can be towed on a road trailer and launched almost anywhere, whether it’s at the coast, on the river or by the lake.

With her ample cockpit space, this British built Duchy 21 has been efficiently designed for spending quality time on the water with friends and family. The lay-out and all-round seating of this stylish open motor launch provides the perfect platform for cruising and relaxing.

Swimming is made easier with a ladder that joins up with the central steps in the cockpit. To dry out, just add some cushions to create a forward double sunbed. Cold drinks are available from the fridge and you can listen to your favourite music on the helm console’s fusion marine stereo with Bluetooth and USB sockets.

A sink and hob aids in preparing a gourmet picnic you can savour with your friends. Two folding oak tables are provided to turn the forward section into a spacious al fresco dining area. To take your picnic ashore, undock a built-in picnic hamper from the back of the helm console and take your crockery with you in a handy container that has two fold out leaves for easier dining on the beach.

To top it all off, literally, is the really ingenious feature of the two elegant spray hoods. These have been neatly engineered to be hidden until required when they can be quickly and easily deployed either fore and aft individually or together.  They can be joined to make a fully enclosed cockpit cover for when the skies turn grey. Once the cover is up, you can comfortably use the sunbed as a spacious overnight double berth.

As with all Cockwells boats, the Duchy 21 is built by skilled craftsman using the highest quality of materials.  It can be custom built to your exact requirements from engine specifications to finishing details including an optional teak deck and solid timber of your choice for finishing joinery.

Other useful options available are, easy to use toilet, hot and cold running water, fridge and icebox, road trailer, diesel or electric propulsion, wheel or tiller steering.
