September 8, 2021 Cockwells to reveal Duchy Sport concept and all-new Hardy range at SIBS21

Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding is to reveal a new concept for the latest vessel in its award-winning Duchy Motor Launches fleet – the Duchy Sport – at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show (SIBS21), which takes place between 10 and 19 September at Mayflower Park.

The acclaimed British boatbuilder will also showcase the first Hardy motor yacht to be launched in Cornish waters – the Hardy 42 Hybrid – as well as release the specifications for its eagerly anticipated Hardy 45 and Hardy 53.

Duchy Motor Launches are a sought-after, semi-production range that combine the classical lines of the gentleman’s launch of generations past with polished styling and modern luxury. Ranging from 21ft to 60ft, these stylish vessels can be customised with any number of optional extras to create a cruising environment that is unique to each owner, whether sailing on lakes, canals, fjords, or open water.

But the Duchy Sport is a new departure, defined by its capacity to leave other sports boats in its wake, as Cockwells’ Design Director, Henry Ward, explains:

“If you are looking for the ultimate family fun boat that is perfect for active watersports enthusiasts, relaxed sunbathers and everyone in between, then the Duchy Sport is for you.

“Conceived from a brief to produce the best wake surfing boat around, the Duchy Sport has now been developed to offer a whole lot more. As well as creating the perfect wave to surf, she also delivers all kinds of creature comforts for up to nine guests – from sunbeds and a wet bar to a forward cabin with day heads – all with the flair and high-end finish that you would expect from Cockwells.”

An expansive Bimini supplies shade from the sun’s rays and supports removable awnings and plexiglass covers for all kinds of weather protection. Adjustable aft sunbeds provide comfortable seating around the dining table or a seabird’s eye view of the adrenalin-fuelled on-the-water action from the deck. Aft steps leading to a bathing platform with a large swim ladder enable easy access to azure waters. Generous stowage for water toys completes the scene.

Duchy Sport #1 has already been sold and is currently in build at the Company’s Mylor Creek Boatyard.

Described by Motor Boat & Yachting as ‘the serious cruiser’s choice’, the Hardy 42 offers outstanding seakeeping at more than 25 knots.

Blending elegant looks with luxurious accommodation and wide, safe, walk-around decks with a generously proportioned aft deck and flybridge, she provides plenty of outdoor living space.

The 31st Hardy 42, which is the first to be completed by Cockwells, is also the first of the renowned Hardy brand of all-weather motor yachts, designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, to incorporate hybrid propulsion. In addition, a digital switching system for full control and monitoring of all the vessel’s systems can be accessed via the 16” Raymarine displays in both the wheelhouse and flybridge helm positions.

Cockwells will continue to build the Hardy 42 to its well-respected traditional design but has collaborated with Andrew Wolstenholme to transform it into the all-new Hardy 45 and Hardy 53, which deliver the ultimate in modern living for multi-generational maritime adventures.

“We can’t wait to share our bold new designs at this year’s SIBS and welcome visitors on board the Duchy 27, Duchy 35 and Hardy 42 Hybrid so that they can experience first-hand the artisan craftsmanship, technical ingenuity and contemporary styling for which we are renowned,” explains Dave Cockwell. “In this, our 25th year of building beautiful bespoke craft for discerning clients, we are proud to be launching our all-new Hardy range, which also incorporates the Hardy 32, 36AD, 40DS, 50DS and 65DS. Whatever kind of vessel for coastal cruising or ocean voyaging you seek, we can design and build a Hardy or a Duchy to match your precise requirements, mirror your personality and chime with your lifestyle, so why not visit us at Berths M101-103 and embark on the journey to customise yours?”
