December 9, 2022 Cockwells’ Duchy Sport Nominated for a Motorboat Award

Acclaimed British boatbuilder, Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding, has been nominated for a coveted industry award for the latest model in its popular range of Duchy Motor Launches – the exuberant Duchy Sport.

The Motor Boat Awards, which are hosted by Motor Boat & Yachting (MB&Y) magazine, are widely considered to be the Oscars of the boating world because every vessel that is nominated undergoes a sea-trial and rigorous testing by MB&Y’s technical experts in order to even be considered.

Following this intensive selection process, the awards are judged purely on a boat’s design, ability and value for money in its chosen marketplace, with the motor boat buyers’ best interests at heart.

There are eight awards for the taking and the Duchy Sport is one of six exceptional designs to have been nominated in the Weekenders category, the winner of which will be announced during a ceremony to mark the occasion on Tuesday 24 January at Hotel Kö59 in Düsseldorf.

Duchy Motor Launches are a sought-after, semi-production range that combines the classical lines of the gentleman’s launch of generations past with polished styling and modern luxury. Ranging from 21ft to 60ft, these stylish vessels can be customised with any number of optional extras to create a cruising environment that is unique to each owner, whether sailing on lakes, canals, fjords, or open water.

Elevating the flair of the Duchy brand to the next level, the Duchy Sport enables a range of watersports to be undertaken by the whole family or a group of friends. As well as creating the perfect wave to surf, she features multiple towing points for wakeboards and inflatables, and delivers every conceivable comfort for up to nine guests – from sunbeds and a wet bar to a forward cabin with day heads and a galley – all with the high-end finesse that you would expect from Cockwells.

An expansive Bimini supplies shade from the sun’s rays and supports removable awnings for all kinds of weather protection. Adjustable aft sunbeds provide comfortable seating around the dining table for up to eight guests or a seabird’s eye view of the on-the-water action from the deck. When it is time to cool off, aft steps leading to a bathing platform and large swim ladder enable easy access to azure waters. A sea keeper holds the craft steady even at its top speed of 42 knots. Ample stowage for watersports toys in the aft steps and multiple storage hatches in the cockpit completes the scene.

“Following its world premiere at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show, three Duchy Sports are already in-build for discerning clients whose days of fun on the water are far from over – indeed, with a Duchy Sport, a whole new type of maritime adventure awaits,” explains Founder & Managing Director, Dave Cockwell.

“We are delighted to have achieved this prestigious nomination as we celebrate yet another year of record sales and growth, which rewards our exceptional team of designers and craftsmen who build precisely the kind of boats that clients want.”
