December 20, 2021 Cockwells and our community

We are committed to playing our part in the local community and are pleased to have been able to sponsor Falmouth Primary Academy and a staff member’s charity fundraise this year.

In response to a charming letter from a Falmouth Primary Academy Year 5 pupil, Cockwells donated £50 to his class, which is rowing 1700m on a rowing machine to raise money for a school trip to London.

Not long before Covid-19 struck, local girl, Caitlin Swan lost her brave fight against cancer.

Caitlin had been growing her hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides young cancer sufferers with free wigs made from real hair to help restore their confidence and identity.

A member of our joinery team, Ian Cunnington, knew Caitlin and having sported long hair for 20 years, he decided to finish the job that she had so courageously started and raise money for the Trust by cutting off his own.

Dave Cockwell offered to match-fund staff contributions to this worthy cause and it was a privilege for us to add £600 to Ian’s fundraise in Caitlin’s memory.

Caitlin’s twin sister wielded the scissors and Ian still doesn’t recognise himself when he looks in the mirror!
