Mylor Creek Boatyard

From moorings, haul out and launch operations to a mobile dry dock, heavy duty slipway and sawmill, we offer a comprehensive range of facilities.

Our HQ is at Tregatreath on the tidal reaches of the Fal Estuary, beside the pretty creekside village of Mylor Bridge in Cornwall.

Steeped in maritime history, Mylor Yacht Harbour has been a haven for Falmouth’s Packet ships, naval vessels throughout the Napoleonic Wars and the French Resistance during World War II.

The Tregatreath boatyard was run by generations of the Heard family until the sad passing of Dave Cockwell’s friend and fellow artisan, Martin Heard in 2009.

We respect this rich heritage and take pride in offering the quality of service and attention to detail that our predecessors would appreciate.

From moorings, haul out and launch operations to a mobile dry dock, heavy duty slipway and sawmill, we offer a comprehensive range of facilities and a passion for modern and traditional boatbuilding that shines through.

Mylor Creek Boatyard offers lifting and launching facilities, beach berthing, a spacious slipway with a 75t winch and cradle, a 24.38m mobile dry dock, swinging moorings and space ashore for more than 100 vessels.

  • LAY-UP ASHORE Mylor Creek Boatyard has space ashore for more than 100 vessels of various shapes and sizes. Whatever type of boat you own, we will do everything possible to accommodate your needs. All owners are able to take advantage of the many electrical and water points positioned around the yard, as well as toilet facilities.
  • HOIST With our versatile boat hoist, we are able to launch and haul out boats of up to 15.24m and 20t.
  • Mobile dry dock Our mobile dry dock is tremendously flexible and can accommodate vessels of up to 24.38m long. It can be towed to and from deep water to enable substantial projects to be undertaken. With its power supply for lighting and heating, painting, respraying and shot blasting can be carried out as well as all manner of other refit work.
  • Summer dry sail Store your boat securely in our boatyard and just call us in advance of when you would like to be out on the water. We will launch your boat for you and tow it to your chosen marina or mooring in time for your arrival date. We will then collect it on your departure, haul it out, wash it off and store it until your next visit. What could be simpler?
  • Slipway with 75T winch and cradle If you do not require a full undercover facility, Mylor Creek Boatyard offers a slipway cradle that is capable of hauling out vessels of up to 24.38m in length, 2.59m in draft (or 2.74m on a spring tide) and up to 75t in weight with its substantial winch. This facility is ideal for small barges, motor fishing vessels, small passenger ferries, some sailing yachts and many other types of craft. Do talk to us about your needs and we will be more than happy to help.
  • Collection and delivery Our yacht collection and delivery service is ideal for owners who are too busy to maintain their boats or who live some distance away and are not able to sail them as regularly as they would like. With our sturdy workboat, we are well-practised in collecting boats and returning them safely to their maintenance berths at the boatyard, providing you with the peace of mind that your vessel is in the best possible hands.
  • Design office Our experienced in-house designers pride themselves on having resolved every design challenge that they have ever encountered with ingenuity and flair. In 2018, we were awarded a grant from the BIG2 Project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020, which partly funded a server upgrade for the design office and 3D solid modelling Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, Solidworks. As a result, we have been able to employ an additional member of staff to support our design team.
  • The South West shipyard This additional facility at Ponsharden, between Falmouth and Penryn, includes a slipway, a quay and a 55t hoist, which enables us to haul out fishing boats and small commercial craft with a draft of up to 3.5m.
